Katie and Mya Visit Us in Florida in 2025 |

We were pleased that Katie and Mya decided to visit us this year in spite of the chaos around the current President and Tariffs on Canada. We had lots of fun playing with Mya in the Pool and walking to the beach. As you can see below this five year old had fun pushing me in the pool.

We were fortunate to have a house full of family and friends for the week before our last week of our last week in Florida. We all spend hours lounging by the pool and playing games with Mya. Most days started with a walk on Manasota Beach followed by a jump in the pool. We also spent an evening watching the sun go down on the Beach.

While in Florida for the past several years, Marie has been getting her hair done at the Next Jeneration Hair Salon and Barber Shop. During the same visit, the Owner and Marie's Hair Stylist has been cutting my hair.

Blind Pass was Severely Damaged by Hurricane Milton |

We took a drive to Englewood Beach and down to Blind Pass to see the damage caused by hurricane Milton. Milton broke through the Key at Blind Pass, severing Manasota Beach Road so you can no longer drive from Manasota Beach to Englewood Beach.

Rita and Ray Came Down from Sarasota for a Visit |

Rita and Ray live in Halifax and rent a condo in Sarasota close to Rita's sister for a month or two every year. This year they came down to visit up in Englewood and we later returned the visit to Sarasota.

We enjoyed a visit from our extended family, Cara, Mia, and Heidi Singh. They arrived just a few days after we got there. The kids enjoyed the pool and spent much of their time there when they weren't on the Beach.

We Left the Snow Behind and Made it to Florida in 4 Days |

We left Owen Sound in a snowstorm and spent the first night in Findlay, Ohio. The trip down was uneventful and we took our time and made a few stops on the way with overnight stops in Knoxville, Tennessee and Valdosta, Georgia.

Heading for Florida to Escape the Record Snowfall in Owen Sound |

In 2025 we had the heaviest snowfall in 50 years. We couldn't get the Mustang out of the street so we had to pack the Aviator. Even then we had to put the Aviator into Heavy Snow mode to get out of the subdivision. Things cleared up when we made it to Ohio and although a little cold the trip down was uneventful.

More Fun at SACO River Campground in 2024 |

Last year we booked a Site at SACO River in August and found to COLD. So this year we booked in July and the weather was much better - in the 80s most days! We made several runs down the river and we happy with our new tent and gazebo.

Cousin Karen visits us in Florida 2024 |

Karen came down for a short visit for some well-deserved relaxation time. We picked her up at the Sarasota Airport on April 3rd and we were happily entertained by her constant witty comments for two weeks. It was a real pleasure to have her here and catch up on things. In between beach walks and pool time we reminisced of past family gatherings such as when the Hutton’s, Riley’s and Woyce’s.

Karen and Eileen dropped by for a few days last year and they liked it so much that they came back this year for a couple of weeks. It was a pleasure to have they back again. They both deserved some time off from their busy schedules. However they spent much of their time helping us, preparing meals and Eileen showed off her barbeque skills on more than one occasion.

Our Walks on the Beach in 2024 |

As many know when we are at our Florida Get-a-Way we really don’t do much and we don’t act as a host or tour guide for anyone who visits. What we do regularly is we walk Manasota Beach. It’s about a mile from the house we rented in 2024 and we usually walk for about 1.5 miles along the beach before we turn around and head home. All together we can do a five mile walk but most days it’s about 4 miles.
